Early Sunday morning, my midwife was arrested for providing prenatal care to women in NC. Though it is legal in all of NC's surrounding states and many other states in the U.S., North Carolina has yet to legalize homebirths with an attending CPM (certified practicing midwife). Amy is licensed in VA, and is a registered CPM, but NC doesn't recognize her certification. Her practice is at stake as well many other midwives' practices and mothers-to-be all over the state.

Amy is truly a great midwife and very knowledgeable. She helped me and my husband with our first child at home. I live in Va and I've talk to many women who has had Amy deliver their babies in both Va and NC. with happy parents and healthy babies. This is a terrible situation and one that my family will pray about and support.
