This cow should be our's in less than 2 hours! Her name is Daisy and she's a 6 year old registered Jersey with "an impressive pedigree". ( No, I don't even know what that means). She's giving about 3 gallons of milk per day right now and is due to calve around Thanksgiving. I am so excited! I've wanted a milk cow for over 2 years, so this is a dream come true so to speak. I hope that she adjusts well to us quickly and vice versa so that she's nothing but a joy and asset to have, not a burden. But, if it turns out to be more than we can handle (I hope hope not!) then we'll just sell her to someone else. Now, I've got to get busy and get ready for her delivery!!
I started blogging in April 2008 and really enjoy it! Being an extremely busy wife and mother of four, I don't get much time to write. But please do not let that keep you from coming back often as I like having you read what I write! Feel free to comment and let me know you stopped by, and enjoy reading!

Wow! 3 gallons a day!? What are you going to do with all of it?
well, so far, with our vast experience with her :) haha, we've gotten 2 gallons a day; 1 gallon per milking. not sure if it's a drop in production due to new location/diet/owners/stress etc. or if we aren't getting all of the milk in a milking, but still 2 gallons a day is a lot! :) we haven't started drinking it yet because she was just wormed and we also want to get our technique down which means cleaner milk.
Jenny, do you think that's the same cow in the picture? That cow's legs look bowed, and her face isn't even the same! It's not dished? Compare it to the pic on my blog that I took yesterday...
I dunno. Maybe it's the angle; looks like it could be the same cow as our's. You just got the wrong side of the cow. :)
