I'm Still Here

I have not fallen off the face of the earth. I'm still alive and right now well! It's been a crazy first month with Katie Mae. I've been sick in bed with mastitis twice since she was born, but have been over that for a little over a week now. Maybe it won't happen again! Katie turned 1 month old yesterday. I can't believe she's that old! I have wanted to post so many pictures and tell so many stories, but I really do think that my days went from having 24 hours in them to 12 once Katie was born. I still haven't figured out how to get everything done and have any free time whatsoever. Katie is a really sweet baby, but she likes to be on the move. If she's awake, she pretty much likes to be moving around, so I end up carrying her a lot, which means I can't get much else done. She likes to be in the wrap and she LOVES to sleep there, but I can only get so much done with her in it. Also with this heat, I can't put her in it because it's too hot for both of us. We usually only have this kind of heat for about a week in August, but we are having upper 90's degree days for the 4th day in a row here in the first of June. It's 88 degrees in the house right now and 90 degrees here in the office. I'm dripping sweat as I'm typing. But the good news is that we'll have our central heating and air up and running hopefully within the next couple weeks and not a moment too soon!!! This heat has been particularly miserable for Katie Mae. She had a terrible day on Friday. She cried nearly all day and hardly slept any. You could tell she was so hot!

Time to get a thing or two done now. My strawberry plants have been producing like crazy; I have about 3 gallons in the fridge and 1 or 2 more gallons on the plants right now. If I hurry, maybe I can get a batch of jam made while Katie sleeps. I love strawberries!!!

Also, congratulations to my cousin, Jake and his wife Ashlee. They had a baby boy on June 4th. He weighed 8 1/2 pounds and was 21 1/2" long, and they named him Owen Thomas. I'm so very happy for them as they had a miscarriage in 2006 at 11 weeks and then had a little boy pass away at 24 weeks in February 2007. They've been trying for so long for a precious little one and I'm so thrilled for them that they have a healthy baby at last!
