Canning

Lemony Blueberry Nectarine Jam

Blueberries

Washing jars and lids before canning the blueberries

Picking blackberries tonight

Blackberry picking last Saturday with Savannah

Tis the season for fruit of every kind!!! The orchards are producing, as are the blueberry patches and wild blackberries. And I, being the obsessive berry picker/canner have to pick every berry within a 20 mile radius. And luckily, I'm raising kids that want to pick too!!! Savannah and Alan have gone picking with me after supper for the past 2 nights and we have picked a gallon of blackberries each night. It takes a while to pick especially when we have to walk a ways to get to them. In the picture of Alan and the buckets, he's stealing a berry from my bucket to eat. He carries a bucket with him and puts a couple berries in them, but then eats them right away. He has yet to contribute to the amount of berries brought home, just to what has ended up in his stomach!
Yesterday, I spent part of the day canning and the kids wanted to help. They both love helping around the house a lot especially if it has to do with something in the kitchen. So we canned blueberries and then once they lost interest, I made lemony blueberry nectarine jam. So here are pictures of our ventures!!
