Well, Alan is officially "free" as he says. Sunday was his birthday and a good day he had. His Uncle "Bud" had come up the day before, so at 6:30 a.m., he and Savannah went into Bud's room to wake him up. This a tradition that no aunts or uncles that stay at our house overnight are exempt from. They both enjoyed playing with him for about 45 minutes before anyone actually got out of bed! Then for breakfast, I fixed homemade biscuits with fresh strawberries on top with grits that had eggs, cheese, and sausage in it. We allowed Alan to open one gift after breakfast and he was so excited. For lunch, we ate out as we always do on Sundays with my grandparents, parents, and my brother, Joe. Grandad requested a piece of pie with a candle in it after the meal and that really excited Alan too! Then, not too long after we returned home from lunch, Aaron's parents and his brother, Nathan, and family, Rachel, Collin, and Emma, came to celebrate the birthday with us. We went over to my parent's house and opened presents first, then had hamburgers and hot dogs for supper. I made a pound cake in a 9 x 13 pan, and Aaron decorated it with CAT equipment. He dug a trench in the cake and buried pipe and everything. It was pretty cool. After tons of play and lots of fun for all the kids, we all went home with tired children! Even though I forgot the party hats that I had bought that Alan requested (luckily he didn't remember), it was a great 3rd birthday for Alan!
