A Date

I love my husband to death. He's a really great guy. But he's not one to suggest that we do things together very often partly cause he's so busy and partly because that's just not the way his brain works. : ) So imagine my surprise when he was reading the newspaper a couple weeks ago and suggested that we go to the play CATS that was showing in Galax this past weekend. Of all things, Aaron wanted to see a play and CATS at that!!!! Before buying tickets, I asked him several times, "are you SURE you want to do this??" and he always said yes. So I purchased tickets for Sunday's afternoon showing at 3 p.m.

After we ate lunch with my parents and grandparents Sunday, my parents took the children home with them and thus, our date started. And guess what we got to do first? We went to a nearby customer's house that Aaron just finished landscaping and we watered the plants for an hour. Let me tell you, this house is ON THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN and I was wearing boots that had about 2 1/2" heels. Now had I been barefooted or wearing tennis shoes this would have been a difficult task for me because it hurts so much with every step I take on level ground. Add to that that I'm wearing 2 1/2" heels (at least they're big, chunky heels and not little spikey ones) and walking around on the side of a mountain, and the task was nearly impossible. I told Aaron that the next time we go on a date, I want more details so I can decide if I want to go or not!!! By the time we got into the car, I was exhausted and every muscle in my body hurt! The plants were happy though!!

We got to Galax just in time for the play and actually got seats on the 3rd row. The play was an amateur showing (not Broadway of course!!) and there were lots of local home schoolers who performed in it. I actually really enjoyed it and so did Aaron!!! I couldn't believe it; I was expecting him to want to leave at intermission, but we saw the whole thing and it was really good. Who knew that Aaron even had a drop of artsy blood in his body! We had a really great afternoon!

Wow! I am in absolute shock. I am very impressed with Aaron- especially since he suggested it! That was a great idea. Way to go Aaron!
